PITT BRADFORD'S KIMMEL SELECTED TO WBCA NATIONAL COACHING PROGRAM

Pitt Bradford senior forward Alicia Kimmel has been selected to the 2015 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) “So You Want To Be A Coach” program, as announced by the WBCA.

Kimmel becomes the first player in both the history of the Pitt-Bradford Women’s Basketball program, as well as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, to receive this distinguished honor.

Each year, the program is conducted on the site of the WBCA National Convention, being held in Tampa, Fla. this year, and is limited to 50 enrollees who are selected from those nominated by their head coaches.

The WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program is a collaborative effort between the WBCA and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to provide female student-athletes with an experience that becomes the foundation of a successful coaching career.

The WBCA has assembled a group of experienced coaches and administrators who will serve as resources to share their knowledge, as well as provide Kimmel with networking opportunities which will help her in securing a coaching position.

“I am extremely proud and happy for Alicia and our Pitt-Bradford Women’s Basketball program,” said head coach Patrick Daniel. “For the last few years Alicia has expressed a lot of interest in wanting to coach and this is a wonderful opportunity and experience that will allow her to meet and interact with so many great coaches and administrators.”

Halfway through her senior campaign, Kimmel currently ranks fifth in the AMCC in field goal percentage (47.2) and first on the Lady Panthers’ roster. Her 15.2 points per game are also good for first on the squad and she recently became the newest member of the coveted Pitt-Bradford 1,000-point Club.
