AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 2

Women's Basketball Game of the Week: Pitt Greensburg @ Medaille College (February 7, 2:00 PM)

The Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats won a thrilling overtime victory over the Medaille Mavericks in the two teams' first meeting on January 10.  Both teams are in the thick of the playoff race and are fighting for priority seeding heading into the conference tournament.

Pitt-Greensburg enters the weekend with a 9-4 conference record and a firm grip of third place.  The Bobcats have swept #4 Penn State Altoona, split with #2 Pitt-Bradford, and played #1 La Roche down to the wire on their home court.  Pitt-Greensburg has won five of their last six and with the AMCC playoff picture panning out, Saturday’s game against the Mavericks will have major seeding implications.  In their first meeting on January 10 in Chamber’s Hall, the Bobcats won an overtime thriller, 77-72.  Pitt-Greensburg will count on reigning Player of the Week senior Morgan Biddle, the conference leader in FG% (56%) and blocks (42), AMCC Pre-Season Player of the Year senior Kayla Dames, who ranks in the conference’s top five in rebounds (184) and blocks (24), and junior Emily Nelson.  Nelson ranks in the top five in assists (63) and third in three-point percentage (33%).  All three have double digit scoring averages with Biddle at 14.2, Dames at 12.2, and Nelson with 11.4 ppg.

Medaille currently sits in fifth place in the AMCC with a 6-6 AMCC record.  Under the guidance of first-year head coach Rachelle Matthys, the team has positioned themselves to get back to the AMCC Tournament despite injuries to several players on the roster.  Senior Alicia Montalvo leads all active players with 13.0 ppg and 9.1 rpg.  Sophomore Lauren Jensen has come on strong in the last four games, averaging 18.3 ppg during that span. Junior Taina Graham is second in the AMCC in apg with 4.6.  The Lady Mavs are looking to get even with the Bobcats after a 72-77 road overtime loss on January 10.
