LA ROCHE AND PITT-GREENSBURG WOMEN ADVANCE TO TITLE GAME

The stage is set for the 2015 AMCC Women's Basketball Tournament, with #1 La Roche taking on #3 Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

#1 seed and defending AMCC champions, La Roche College got an easy win over #4 Penn St. Altoona in women's basketball semi-final action. The Redhawks, who swept Penn St. Altoona during the regular season, won 102-69 Friday night, and will have their sights on their sixth consecutive AMCC championship. La Roche sophomore forward Danasha Harris led the way with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  The Redhawks also got a double-double from senior forward Lashauna Brothers who finished the night with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Sabrina McLin also poured in 25 points. Sophomores Brittany Boslet and Madison Mossellem led Penn St. Altoona in scoring with with 20 and 16 points, respectively. Senior Moira Corrigan recorded her 23rd double-double of the season in her final collegiate game, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

#3 Pitt-Greensburg won a thrilling nightcap game over #2 Pitt-Bradford, 50-49. Senior Morgan Biddle was the only Bobcat to score in double figures, finishing with 25 points, including her 1,000th career point. After splitting the regular season games, the semi-final game proved to be just as exciting, as Bobcat junior Emily Nelson hit a big three-pointer with :58 to play to tie the game at 48. Biddle then sunk two free throws with one second on the clock to win the game. On Saturday, Pitt-Greensburg will be looking for their third AMCC title in program history, and their first since 2009. Freshman Brooke Osborne led Pitt-Bradford with 11 points, while senior Alicia Kimmell added 10.

Saturday's championship game will take place at the Kerr Fitness and Recreation Center on the La Roche Campus, with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m. The winner of Saturday's game will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with pairings to be announced on Monday.
