PITT-GREENSBURG, PENN ST. ALTOONA WOMEN ADVANCE IN AMCC TOURNAMENT

The #3 Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats and #4 Penn St. Altoona Lions both claimed victories Tuesday evening in the first round of the AMCC women's basketball tournament and will advance to the semi-finals.

Penn State Altoona rolled to a 97-65 win over #5 Medaille College on the Lions' home floor Tuesday evening. Senior Moira Corrigan set a new team single game record by leading all players with 31 points. That point total also pushed her into first place on the Lady Lions' single season points record, as she now holds the top spot with 440 points scored this season. Corrigan added 17 rebounds and five blocks on Tuesday night. The Lions will face #1 seed and tournament host La Roche College in the semi-finals Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Pitt-Greensburg posted a 70-59 victory over the #6 Franciscan University Barons in the opening round of the tournament, making it the first playoff win for the Bobcats since the 2008-09 season. Senior Morgan Biddle led Pitt-Greensburg with 23 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Senior Kayla Dames netted her 1,000th point, while posting a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Bobcats will face #2 Pitt-Bradford in the semi-finals at 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.

The winners of Friday night's semi-final games will square off on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for the AMCC Championship. The championship game will take place in the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center on the campus of La Roche College.
