Saturday, April 2 at 1:00/3:00pm

This Saturday, La Roche University will take on the Medaille College Mavericks in the AMCC Softball Game of the Week. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since April of last year.

Medaille heads into their first conference matchup of the season with an 11-5 overall record. They came back from their spring trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with a 9-1 record, their best in recent history. The Mavs have two pitcher sisters who have been anchors in the circle. Freshman Alexis Alguire has a 5-2 win-loss record while holding onto a 3.31 ERA. She has allowed 36 hits in 42.1 innings pitching while totaling 18 strikeouts. Sophomore Kaitlyn Alguire has a 5-3 win-loss record while holding onto a 3.27 ERA, the lowest on the pitching staff. She has allowed 52 hits in 45 innings pitched while totaling 19 strikeouts. Shortstop Gabrielle Presutti has been a force at the plate. She currently has a .339 batting average with a .518 slugging percentage. She has one double, three triples, and one homerun. She has also tallied 10 RBI’s and nine runs scored.

The Redhawks have only played eight games so far this season due to the most recent getting postponed due to the late March snow, but La Roche still has some stats on the board. Offensively, sophomore catcher Alexis Myers leads the team in RBIs with seven, and sophomore LF/P Ashtin Hoover has recorded 13 hits so far this season. Freshman infielder Garrah Milochik is leading in slugging with a percentage of .625. Senior centerfielder Kelly Denk is leading in on base percentage, and stolen bases with four. Junior pitcher Carlie Dillon is the leading pitcher for La Roche and has pitched 33.1 innings, and has struck out 22 batters.

The last time the two teams squared off, La Roche came out on top with a 14-12 victory. However, Medaille leads the all-time series between the two schools, holding the 11-7 advantage dating back to 2012.
