    Schmidt appeared in three games on the mound for the Lions this week. In 14 innings pitched she had 15 strikeouts and gave up just eight hits and one run. She tallied two wins and helped lead the Lions to an AMCC Championship victory. She averaged 7.50 strikeouts per game and finished the week with a .50 ERA.
  • Marissa Torretti, Penn State Behrend, Softball (Player)

    Torretti appeared in all six games for the Lions this week in the AMCC playoffs. Torretti tallied seven hits, three RBIs, and two base on balls for a .389 batting average and .450 on-base percentage. She also contributed three stolen bases and seven total bases. Torretti was a key player in winning the AMCC Championship. In a scoreless game one against Mt. Aloysius, Torretti led off the sixth inning with a bunt in front of home plate, making her way to first and scored the go-ahead run on a bunt by Mackenzie McIntire which would eventually secure the Lions victory. Torretti also had a 1.000 fielding percentage from center field and tallied eight putouts and two assists. Torretti was named to the AMCC All-Tournament team.

    The Penn State Behrend softball team won their ninth AMCC Championship with a doubleheader sweep of Mount Aloysius College on Saturday.

    The AMCC softball semifinals saw a pair of two-game sweeps on Wednesday, as #1 Penn State Behrend took two games from #5 Penn State Altoona and #3 Mount Aloysius College produced two shutout performances, besting #7 La Roche University, to advance to the AMCC Championship series.

    Hillard pitched 11.2 innings, earning both victories in the doubleheader sweet of Pitt-Greensburg in the first round of tournament action. She struck out four total batters on the day and gave up just seven hits and two earned runs. She pitched to a 1.20 ERA, lowering her season ERA to 2.28. She also tied for the league lead in wins, with her seventh and eighth of the season.

    Reitz went 4-for-7 (.571) and drove in five runs during the doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Greensburg. In game two, she went 3-for-4, with two triples and two runs scored, while driving in four of the Mounties' eight runs, single-handedly accounting for six of the team's runs in the game. She slugged 1.143 on the day.

    Schmidt pitched in two games this week for Behrend, both in conference action. On Tuesday against Medaille, Schmidt threw a no-hitter, the first for Behrend since 2009. She pitched a complete five inning game and struck out five batters. Schmidt came in in relief on Saturday against Mt. Aloysius pitching 3.2 innings and striking out three batters. On the week, she gave up only two hits and no runs in 8.2 innings for a 0.00 ERA. Schmidt tallied two wins on the mound to improve to 8-1 on the season

    McIntire played in all six games for the Lions this week. Behrend played four conference and two non-conference games. In AMCC play, McIntire tallied 12 hits, four doubles, six runs, and nine RBIs for a .800 batting average and 1.067 slugging. On Tuesday against Medaille, McIntire went 4-for-4 in game one and 3-for-4 in game two with five RBIs. Against Mt. Aloysius on Saturday, she went 4-for-4 in game one with two RBIs and had a double in game two. McIntire broke the Behrend school record in doubles on Saturday, hitting her 48th carreer double. McIntire also hit in her 100th career RBI on Saturday.

    Penn State Behrend junior pitcher Ashleigh Schmidt threw a no-hitter on Tuesday night in an 11-0 victory over Medaille College in five innings.

    Uhing was dominant for the Panthers this week, as she picked up three wins and a save for the Panthers. She began her week with a six inning no-hitter against Medaille. In her second start of the week, Uhing allowed one unearned run in a complete-game victory over Hilbert. In Saturday's sweep of Pitt-Greensburg, Uhing started the day by putting up a 0 in the 8th inning to earn a save in game one, and then allowed two runs on five hits in another complete-game victory. Last week, Uhing totaled 21 innings pitched, allowing only two earned runs. She struck out 21 batters, allowed 10 hits and only one walk. Her ERA for the week was 0.67.

    Wonica collected hits in each of the Pioneers six games this week, including collecting at least two hits in five of the games. Wonica finished the week 14-for-21 (.667 BA, 1.048 SLG%) with five doubles, a home run, six RBIs and five runss scored, while also adding a stolen base.

    Pitt-Bradford senior Jordan Uhing pitched a no-hitter on Tuesday, as the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team swept Medaille College in an AMCC doubleheader.

    Hillard earned a win in both of her starts this week, helping the Mounties to a 3-1 week. She earned a complete-game victory in both starts, going 8.0 innings against UPG, only allowing one earned run, and 7.0 innings against Alfred State, allowing two earned runs. The two starts dropped her ERA to 1.91, which leads the AMCC.

    Reitz picked up multiple hits in three Mountie wins last week. She hit .571 (8-for-14) and slugged 1.286 with a .625 on base percentage. Reitz drove in seven runs, including hitting her second home run of the season. Five of her eight hits went for extra bases as she tallied a homerun, three triples, and a double. She also scored seven runs and recorded three stolen bases over the week, as the Mounties went 3-1. Reitz is currently in a tie for second place in the AMCC homerun race.

    Young went 1-1 on the week while also earning her second career save. In 17.1 innings pitched, Young had 13 strikeouts with only three walks and a 3.63 ERA. Her best performance came in game one against Medaille on April 10th. Young pitched all seven innings, striking out eight batters and giving up just two runs to help the Redhawks to a 9-2 victory.

    Hoover got her collegiate career off to a hot start in her first four games in a Red Hawk uniform. Hoover recorded nine hits, six RBI, a double, a triple, seven runs and a stolen base while holding an AMCC-best .600 batting average. In a double-header against Pitt-Greensburg, she went 4-for-8 with a double, a triple, two RBIs, four runs scored, and a stolen base. In two conference games against Medaille, Hoover went 5-for7 with three more runs scored and four additional RBIs.
