AMCC SOFTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: MOUNT ALOYSIUS @ PENN STATE BEHREND

The AMCC softball game of the week features the top two teams in the conference, as second place Mount Aloysius College (21-6, 7-1 AMCC) travels to first place Penn St. Behrend (18-8, 9-1 AMCC) as the two teams continue to fight for the top spot in league standings. 

The Mounties started off 6-0 in conference play until they dropped their first conference contest when they split with Hilbert College last Saturday. They are off to the best start in program history, at 21-6 they have already won as many games as they did in their 2018 championship season. Catcher and first baseman Lydia DeFazio leads the conference with a .513 batting average, eight home runs, and 38 RBI. In the circle, pitcher Karlie Clark is tops in the league with a 2.28 ERA in 55.1 innings pitched, while also tying for fourth with seven wins. Emily Cochran has also been tough in the circle for the Mounties with a 6-1 record and a 3.38 era.

The Lions took on D'Youville College on Wednesday, winning the first 9-1 before falling 5-4 in game two. Mackenzie McIntire led the team with five hits on the day, including three doubles and one RBI. AJ Nichols hit her first homerun of the season in game one, tallying two RBI. Nichols is leading the AMCC on the pitching end in wins and strikeouts with 10 and 71, respectively. Nichols is ranked second in RBI with 27 followed by McIntire and Katie Gozzard tied for fourth (23). Last week, senior Carson Hauser became the first player in program history to register 150 hits and 50 stolen bases in a career. Hauser is tied for second in the conference with 15 stolen bases this season
