    The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) saw four softball players named to the 2019 All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Softball Team, announced on Thursday.

    The Mount Aloysius College softball team picked up a big victory on Friday, defeating No. 9 The College of New Jersey in the first round of the NCAA championship tournament.

    As the spring season continue to wind down, several AMCC teams have learned that their seasons aren't over yet as they continue to play in the NCAA national tournaments and the ECAC tournamet.
  • Kara Pisczek, Mount Aloysius College, Softball (Pitcher)

    Pisczek was dominant in the AMCC Tournament. She pitched 12 innings over two games and did not allow a run to score on her way to two wins. In the opener against Pitt Bradford, She pitched all eight innings in a complete game shutout of the Panthers. She allowed five hits and a walk while striking out two. In the championship game against Franciscan, she came into the game in a relief appearance in the 4th inning. She allowed only one hit over the final four innings as the Mounties came back to win their second straight AMCC conference title.
  • Emily Cochran, Mount Aloysius College, Softball (Player)
    May 06, 2019
    Cochran hit .455 over the three games of the AMCC tournament. She went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in the comeback victory over Franciscan on Saturday. In the Championship game she went 2-for-3 and drove in the game-winning run with a single up the middle. She also pitched in the Championship game allowing one run on four hits over three innings.

    #4 seed Franciscan University won twice on the opening day of the AMCC softball championship tournament, including their first ever program victory over #1 seed Penn St, Behrend.
  • PENN ST. BEHREND CLAIMS SOFTBALL REGULAR SEASON TITLE; SET TO HOST CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

    The Penn St. Behrend Lions won the AMCC softball regular season title, earning hosting rights to the 2019 AMCC Softball Championship Tournament. The tournament will take place this weekend, Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5 in Erie, PA.
  • Laura Kratzke, Medaille College, Softball (Pitcher)

    Kratzke was a workhorse for the Mavericks last week, going 4-2 over a four day stretch that saw the Mavs play four double headers in a row, including throwing a perfect game to add to her resume. She finished with a 2.44 ERA and 4-2 record, striking out 56 and throwing the first perfect game of her career in a 2-0 win over La Rcohe on Saturday. She followed that up with another complete game shut out, pitching 48 of a total of 56 innings for Medaille this weekend.
  • Brianna Benscoter, Mount Aloysius College, Softball (Player)

    Benscoter hit .583 in a 4-0 week for the Mounties. With the Mounties needing a win to clinch the second seed in the conference tournament, Benscoter put in her best performance of the week. She went 3-for-3, scored two runs, drove in four and hit her second home run of the season. Both of her run-scoring hits were with two outs, with a two-run single in the first and a two-run homer to left in the fourth. She also put in an error-free performance at second base. 
  • Laura Kratzke, Medaille College, Softball (Pitcher)

    Kratzke went 2-0 against Hilbert with a 1.29 ERA and 15 total strikeouts. She scattered eight hits over 14 innings and walked just three, pitching two complete games in one day. 
  • Jordan Hartman, D'Youville College, Softball (Player)
    April 22, 2019
    Hartman had a fantastic week for the Spartans, becoming a regular part of the team's lineup this past week. Beginning on Thursday, Hartman went 1-for-2 in a game one loss to Pitt.-Bradford. In game two, she went 2-for-4 with a RBI in the 8-1 victory over the Panthers. She then went 1-for-1 with three walks in the 3-2 win over Mount Aloysius in game one on Saturday, followed by an incredible 3-for-4 performance with four RBI in game two. In total, Hartman went 7-for-11 with five RBI and three walks. Despite playing in only 19 games and registering 27 at-bats, Hartman has registered 13 hits and is hitting .481 and is fifth on the team with 10 RBI. 
  • LA ROCHE'S GENTILE REACHES COACHING MILESTONE, EARNS CAREER WIN 400

    La Roche University head softball coach, Orie Gentile, has reached another milestone in his illustrious career. Gentile and the Redhawks' sweep at Pitt-Greensburg on April 10 brought his career win total to 400.

    The AMCC Softball Game of the Week features the D'Youville College Spartans traveling to Bradford, PA to take on the Pitt-Bradford Panthers in what looks to be a beautiful day for softball.

    For the first time in her career, Franciscan University sophomore Allyson Weiss has earned a national award as she was named the National Fastpitch News DIII Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
  • AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball - Pitcher
    April 15, 2019
    Nichols appeared in three game last week, starting in game one against D'Youville and Mt. Aloysius. In both starts, Nichols registered a win while pitching complete games. Nichols registered 21 strikeouts on the week, including a season-high 12 against Mt. Aloysius. She pitched 14.2 innings, giving up just 10 hits and three runs while finishing the week with an ERA of 0.95.
  • Allyson Weiss, Franciscan University, Softball - Player
    April 15, 2019
    Weiss led the Lady Barons to a 4-0 week in two crucial AMCC sweeps for the Lady Barons. Weiss posted 10 hits in 16 at-bats for a .625 batting average. The sophomore scored nine runs while driving in eight - including four in the victory over Hilbert. Weiss had five extra base hits including three home runs. Weiss was perfect in the field with nine put outs and six assists.  She was 1-for-2 on the base paths and did not strike out in 17 plate appearances.

    The AMCC softball game of the week features the top two teams in the conference, as second place Mount Aloysius College (21-6, 7-1 AMCC) travels to first place Penn St. Behrend (18-8, 9-1 AMCC) as the two teams continue to fight for the top spot in league standings.
  • Jordan Uhing, Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Pitcher)

    Uhing earned wins in all four of her appearances this week, defeating Hilbert, Alfred State and Franciscan with complete-game wins -- Hilbert and Alfred State wins coming as complete-game shutouts. In game two against Hilbert, she came on in relief in the sixth inning with the tying run at third base. She stranded the runner at third, her team took the lead in the seventh, and she shut Hilbert down in the bottom half to secure the victory and the sweep. At Alfred State, she tossed all seven innings allowing just one hit and striking out 10 Pioneers, the program's first double-digit strikeout game since 2014. In total, she tossed 20.1 innings allowing just four earned runs and striking out 18. Her ERA for the week was 1.38. 
  • Maddy Hillery, Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Player)

    Hillery had a monster week at the plate, going 11-for-20 with five doubles, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI while helping Pitt-Bradford to a 5-1 week. She reached base at a .625 percentage, hit .550 (.615 in AMCC action) and slugged .800. Half of Hillery's doubles came during game two at Alfred State. Her six RBI are the program's most since the same amount was recorded in 2010 and is the third six-RBI game in program history. She also recorded a .905 fielding percentage in the infield for the Panthers.

    Pitt-Greensburg, with a 2-2 conferene record, travels to Buffalo, NY on Saturday to take on 2-0 D'Youville College in the AMCC Softball Game of the Week.
  • AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball (Pitcher)

    Nichols appeared in four games this week, finishing the week with a 1.91 ERA. Nichols had three complete game wins against Carnegie Mellon, Pitt-Bradford, and Penn State Altoona. She pitched a total of 22 innings, striking out 23, letting up only eight runs (six earned).
  • Lydia DeFazio, Mount Aloysius College, Softball (Player)
    April 01, 2019
    DeFazio had a dominant week as the Mounties won all four AMCC games they played. She hit an incredible .867, hitting six home runs and two doubles, driving in 13 runs and scoring eight more. DeFazio recorded hits in her first 13 at bats of the week, ending the week 13-for-15. Against Franciscan, she went 8-for-8 in the double header. In game two, she hit three home runs. In the first game of the weekend doubleheader against Medaille, she drove in all three runs, including two on the game-winning walk off home run. For the week, DeFazio hit .867 with an .889 on base percentage, and an incredible 2.200 slugging percentage.
