  • AMCC ANNOUNCES SPRING SPORTSMANSHIP TEAMS

    The 2022 season came to an end for the Penn State Altoona men's volleyball team on Saturday evening, when the four seed Lions suffered a 3-1 loss to second seed Ramapo College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship match at the Bradley Center.

    The Penn State Behrend (22-8) men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the top-ranked Springfield Pride (27-1) in the first round of the NCAA Championships held on Friday afternoon.

    The AMCC Men's Volleyball Championship Tournament kicks off Tuesday evening with first round matchups when #6 Medaille College travels to #3 Hiram College and #4 Penn State Altoona hosts #5 Thiel College.

    Barbato led the Golden Tornadoes to two big conference wins over the weekend to solidify a second place finish the AMCC. In four games on the week, he had 64 kills (4.27 k/s) on a .258 hitting percentage, including 20 kills (5.0 k/s) on a .444 hitting percentage in an important win at Penn State Altoona on Saturday. He also added 53 digs (3.53 d/s), including a career-high 19 digs against Altoona, and eight blocks (0.53 b/s). He now leads the AMCC with 348 kills and 3.55 k/s.  Barbato recorded 76.0 points on the week, for an average of 5.1 points per set. 
  • Matt Dickerson, Medaille College, Men's Volleyball

    Dickerson led the Mavs to a 3-0 week in AMCC play, including a big five-set victory over Geneva. Dickerson averaged 3.64 kills per set and earned a .348 hitting percentage. He totaled 40 kills, two assists, four aces, 29 digs, and seven blocks. His best game was against Mount Aloysius where he had 11 kills averaging 3.67 kills per set with a .500 hitting percentage. He added one ace, eight digs, and three blocks, as well. Dickerson also had a strong match against Geneva, where he recorded 18 kills (3.60 k/s), nine digs, four blocks, three service aces, one assist, and recorded a .349 hitting percentage against the Golden Tornadoes. 
  • Connor Baker, Penn State Altoona, Men's Volleyball

    Baker had a great week setting the Lions' offense while also providing strong defense, helping his team go 3-0 in AMCC matches. In Wednesday night's win at St. Vincent, he totaled 44 assists to go along with 13 digs, two kills, and a block assist. In Saturday's victory in the AMCC Match of the Week at Thiel, the sophomore recorded 49 assists (the fourth-most assists in a single match in Penn State Altoona men's volleyball history) while adding nine digs, three block assists, a service ace, and a kill. Later that day, in a win over Medaille, he recorded 33 assists, 10 digs, two kills, and a block assist. On the week, Baker totaled 126 assists (9.69 assists per set), 32 digs (2.46 digs per set), five block assists (0.38 blocks per set), and five kills (0.38 kills per set).

    Goodsel averaged 4.44 kills and 2.56 digs per set in a 3-0 week in AMCC action for the Lions. He had double-digit kills in each win, collecting 40 for the week. Goodsel led the team each match in kills, registering 15 (.345 hitting percentage) against Hiram. He was one dig away from a double-double with 14 kills and nine digs vs. Altoona. Goodsel also added two assists, two service aces, and four blocks on the week while averaging 4.9 points per set.
  • Byron Spear, Geneva College, Men's Volleyball

    Spear had a big week for Geneva, leading the Golden Tornadoes to three AMCC victories, including a five-set victory over Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Match of the Week. He set a career-high in kills twice, with 15 kills in each of Geneva's five-set victories over Thiel and Penn State Behrend, and he set career-highs against Penn State Behrend with nine blocks and 19 digs. For the week, he finished with 37 kills (2.85 k/s) on a .265 hitting percentage, along with 13 blocks (1.0 b/s) and 40 digs (3.08 d/s). He also finished the week with 45.0 pts (3.5 pts/s).

    Milroy had a big week both offensively and defensively for Geneva. He finished the week with 29 kills (2.64 k/s) on a .333 hitting percentage, including a career-high 14 kills against Medaille. He also added 16 blocks (1.45 b/s) in Geneva's three matches, and he now leads the AMCC with 0.93 b/s. He also contributed 10 digs and four aces last week, finishing the week with 3.7 points per set.

  • Andrew Diaz de Padilla, Hiram College, Men's Volleyball

    Diaz de Padilla tallied 69 assists, 11 digs, five kills and four aces giving Hiram a 2-0 week to win the NCAC Showdown. Diaz de Padilla helped the Terriers get two wins vs. Wittenberg and Wabash, both in 3-1 fashion on Sunday afternoon. The Nipomo, Calif. native was named to the All-Showdown team as Hiram claimed victory in the event. For the week, the senior averaged 8.63 assists/set, 1.38 digs/set and 0.63 kills/set. Hiram is now 6-3 on the year having won four-straight matches.

    Supan helped guide the Terriers to a two-win Saturday over Baldwin Wallace. The senior posted a double-double in match #1 with 15 kills and 11 digs as Hiram picked up a 3-1 win over the Yellow Jackets. In game two, the Medina, Ohio native picked up nine kills and eight digs in a straight-set victory over Eastern Mennonite. For the week, Supan averaged 3.43 kills, 2.72 digs, 0.71 service aces, and 0.43 blocks, while swinging at .357 clip. Hiram is now 4-3 on the year, and a perfect 4-0 inside Price Gymnasium.

    Silva got his sophomore season off to a strong start in three matches for the Lions this past week. In Tuesday night's 3-0 loss to Messiah, he totaled six kills, two digs, and one service ace. In Thursday night's tight 3-2 loss at Elizabethtown, the sophomore tied for the match-high in kills with 22 on a .389 attack percentage while adding seven digs, four aces, three assists, and three block assists. His 27.5 points against Elizabethtown set a new Penn State Altoona single match record for points. In Sunday's 3-1 win over King's, Silva had 13 kills, seven digs, two aces, two assists, and one block assist. On the week, Silva recorded 50.0 points (4.2 points per set), 41 kills (3.42 kills per set), 16 digs (1.33 digs per set), seven service aces (0.58 aces per set), five assists (0.42 assists per set), and four block assists (0.33 blocks per set).

    Wlodarczyk led the Mounties to their first-ever wins in program history, as a first-year program. He hit a team-high, .298, with 22 kills in the two matches. His 13 kills in match number two is the newly established school-record, while hitting .409. Adding to his offense, he also tallied 15 service aces on the day, with a high of nine in the first match.

    Converse assisted the Hawks in almost every category, scoring 31 kills, six service aces, 13 digs and four total blocks this past weekend. Converse recorded five kills and five service aces against Geneva before coming up with 10 kills each against Juniata and St. John Fisher.
