FRANCISCAN'S ZACH QUIZA TAKES PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS

Franciscan junior Zach Quiza has been named the 2015 AMCC Men's Tennis Player of the Year. Quiza led the conference at the #1 singles spot with an AMCC-best record of 5-0 during the regular season. Quiza led the Barons at both the #1 singles and #1 doubles positions to a championship finish as the #1 seed in the AMCC tournament. Quiza was a two-time AMCC Player of the Week and an ECAC South Player of the Week this season.

Newcomer of the Year honors goes to Penn St. Altoona freshman Geoff Zlobinsky. Zlobinsky went 10-1 overall in #1 singles and 10-2 overall in #1 doubles through the end of the AMCC Tournament. At the end of the regular season, he ranked first in the AMCC in overall singles wins (10), overall #1 singles wins (10), and overall #1 doubles wins (9). Against AMCC competition, his five #1 singles and #1 doubles victories also ranked first. Zlobinsky was picked as the AMCC Player of the Week once and also took an ECAC regional rookie of the week award once.

Franciscan head coach Jeremy Ellis has been named the AMCC Coach of the Year after guiding the Barons to their third consecutive conference title. They finished the season with a 9-5 overall record and a 6-0 mark in the AMCC.
