    Penn State Behrend freshman Tim Compton was named the Allegheny Empire Championship Men's Swimmer of the Meet and therefore is the AMCC Men's Swimmer and Newcomer of the Year.

    The Alfred State College men's swimming team claimed the AMCC and the overall title at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet, snapping Penn State Behrend's 14 year streak.

    After day three of the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championship, the Alfred State College men remain in first place, while the Penn State Behrend women have climbed in front of the Pioneer women for the top spot in the AMCC.

    The AMCC men's swimming and diving teams will take to the starting blocks this week for the first AMCC-Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet since the covid-19 pandemic hit.

    Miller won the one-meter diving with a score of 241.73 in the Alfred State men's swimming and diving 168-35 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday to help assist the Pioneers to a 7-0 regular season record. The men's swimming and diving team are the first of any Alfred State team to finish their regular season going undefeated in the Division III era.

    Schmidt won a pair of events on Saturday at Nazareth. He set a new team record and was first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.77 and also won the 400 freestyle in 4:19.53. Schmidt was also a part of the record-setting 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
  • SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS CHOSEN TO SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA TEAMS

    The Penn State Behrend men's and women's swimming and diving teams, along with the Alfred State College women's team, have been chosen to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2021 semester.

    Pletz had two individual first place finishes and was part of a relay first place in the Lions' 130-28 victory over AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford on Friday night. He prevailed in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:55.88, and he later took first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 55.94. The freshman also competed in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, combining with his teammates to post a total time of 1:45.52 to take first place.
  • Kellen Fletcher, Alfred State College, Men's Swimming
    January 17, 2022
    Fletcher won three races and broke two pool records in the Alfred State men's swimming and diving tri-meet sweep at Utica College on Saturday. He placed first and set records in the 100-yard butterfly (54.23) and 100-yard backstroke (54.11) and also won the 200-yard IM (2:01.15).
  • Aiden Wright, Pitt-Bradford, Men's Swimming

    Wright picked up four wins for the Panthers in a tri-match with Wells and Suny Delhi. He started the day by leading off the 200-yard medley relay, which the Panthers won with a time of 2:05.22. He followed this up with an easy victory in the 100-yard backstroke that saw him outswim the competition by 27 seconds. Wright also won the 500-yard freestyle in 6:00.79 and finished the day with a 26.40 split for the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
  • Madison Coleman, Penn State Altoona, Women's Swimming

    Coleman helped Penn State Altoona women's swimming to its first-ever win over Penn State Behrend in a dual meet on Saturday, when Altoona triumphed 132-125. The freshman had three individual first place finishes and was also part of the relay team that provided the go-ahead points in the final event of the meet. Coleman's first win of the day came in the 200 Yard Freestyle, when she earned a time of 2:05.71. She clinched a victory in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.11, and she sealed the trifecta by taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:47.32. Coleman combined with her teammates to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a total time of 3:58.30, with the result pushing the Lions to a win on the day.

    Miller won the 3m diving competition (360.90) and was 2nd in the 1m (378.80).
  • Kellen Fletcher, Alfred State College, Men's Swimming

    Fletcher led the way with a pair of individual victories. He won the 100 fly and set a new AMCC record of 50.61. He also won the 200 IM (1:56.12) and was 2nd in the 200 fly (1:54.08). He was also part of the winning 200 free, 400 free, and 400 medley relay teams.
  • Ethan Heim, Medaille College, Men's Swimming

    Heim finished first in the 100 yd. breaststroke with a time of 1:11.32, and first in the 50 yd. freestyle with a time of 26.03 in their meet against Wells College. Heim also grabbed a second place finish in the 100 yd. butterfly with a time of 1:07.21.

    Miller won both the 1m (222.91) and the 3m (244.65) in the Pioneers' win over Wells.

    Compton set a pool record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.42 at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. In addition to winning that event, he also touched first in the 400 IM (4:27.53).

    Miller won the 1 m diving competition with a score of 231 and won the 3m with a score of 261.65.

    Schmidt was a four-time winner, claiming three individual win and one relay for the Lions on Saturday. He was dominate in the freestyle events, winning the 100 (48.32), the 200 (1:48.73) and the 500 (5:08.58). Schmidt also swam a leg on the winning 400 free relay.

    Nick Beach has gone from being the top diver in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) for back-to-back years to coaching some of the top divers in the conference at Alfred State College.

    Ricci was 2nd on the 1m board (246.5) and 2nd on the 3m board (232.65) vs. Buffalo State and won the 1m competition vs. Fredonia (236.9).
  • Luca Aldewereld, Alfred State College, Men's Swimming
    October 18, 2021
    Aldewereld set a new Alfred State NCAA-era record in winning the 50 free (21.84) in the Pioneers victory over Fredonia. He was also part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay team. The 200 free relay team set a new school record, winning 1:29.74. In the first meet of the season vs. Buffalo State he won the 50 free in 22.14 and was 2nd in the 100 free (49.54).

    Schmidt hand a hand in four first-place finishes to help the Lions come from behind to defeat Westminster. The graduate student was first in the 1000 free (10:32.10), the 500 free (5:09.77) and the 100 free (48.91), while swimming a leg on the winning 200 free relay.
