#1 MEDAILLE, #3 MT. ALOYSIUS ADVANCE TO MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

#1 Medaille College and #3 Mount Aloysius College will meet in the AMCC Men's Soccer Championship Game after each picking up semifinal victories on Wednesday afternoon. Medaille defeated #5 Alfred State College 4-1, while Mt. Aloysius earned the 2-1 overtime upset victory over #2 Penn State Behrend.

Medaille 4, Alfred State 1
The Alfred State Pioneers opened up the scoring to take the 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the game when Jack Leahy received the ball and gave a quick give and go pass to David Benson, who put the ball right back on Leahy's foot for the first goal of the game and his third goal on the year. The Mavericks took control of the game from there and connected on their first goal of the game in the 16th minute. Ander Castillo passed a through ball in front of the net for sophomore Joey Zachary, who found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. In the 23rd minute, Eric Metade sent a perfectly placed pass across the goal for Castillo, to put the ball away and give Medaille the 2-1 advantage at the half. Medaille came out in the second half just as hot as they ended the first, as Metade carried the ball through two defenders and fired a shot on net, upping the Mavericks lead to 3-1 just 30 seconds into the half. In the 57th minute, Castillo capitalized on an opportunity and solidified the lead with his second goal of the game,  setting the 4-1 final and sending the Mavericks to the AMCC championship game

Mount Aloysius 2, Penn State Behrend 1 (OT)
Penn State Behrend got the scoring started quickly, as John Ziobro scored within the first three minutes of the game, giving the Lions a quick 1-0 lead. The goal came on the Lions' first shot of the contest. Mt. Aloysius' Lachie Back evened the score in the 16th minute when he got a pass from Tevin Beadle that he was able to tap in the bottom left corner of the goal. The final 30 minutes of the first half saw one save on each side and very little offense. The second half only saw one save made, which was by Mt. Aloysius GK Luke Priestley. In overtime, Priestly made one save, but then Mountie sophomore Rhett Pletcher scored late. He took a shot in from the middle of a scrum, as his shot found the back of the net and gave the Mounties a 2-1 sudden death victory, sending them to the AMCC championship game.

#3 Mount Aloysius will travel to #1 Medaille for the AMCC championship game. The match-up will take place on Saturday, November 6 at 2pm.
