PLAYER OF THE WEEK: PS-Altoona G Jack Kusters had an outstanding week for the Lions, who went 2-0 with a pair of big AMCC wins. In Wednesday night's road win at AMCC opponent Franciscan, Kusters tied his career-high with 27 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, and one steal. He went an impressive 10-for-14 from the field in the game, including going 7-for-8 from three-point range. His three-point percentage of 87.5 percent set a new Penn State Altoona men's basketball single game record, and his total of seven made threes is tied for the fifth-most three-pointers made in a single game in team history. In Saturday's victory at home over AMCC foe Medaille, Kusters tied for the team-high in points with 19 while adding seven rebounds, a team-leading four assists, and one steal. On the week, he averaged 23.0 points per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the field overall and 60.0 percent from three-point range. He also grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, dished out 4.5 assists per game, and averaged 1.0 steal per game.

 

BEST OF THE REST: Medaille F Jonathan Smith scored his 1,000th point when he dropped 26 points in the Mavs' win over D'Youville, while also adding 11 rebounds and four assists, he then added 24 points and 17 rebounds in the team's loss to PS-Altoona...La Roche F Tyler Frederick led the first place Redhawks to a 2-0 record on the week while averaging 15.0 points, 16.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 assists...D'Youville F Will Saunders had another impressive week for the Spartans, leading them in scoring, as he scored 23 points with six rebounds, six assists, and two steals in the loss to the Mavericks, then on Saturday against La Roche, he then scored 24 points with 12 rebounds for his first career double-double as a Spartan...Franciscan C Matt Trent was the big reason behind the Baron's success this week, as he averaged 16.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game and shot over 50% from the field, including a game-winner from the left block with one second to play against PS-Behrend...PS-Behrend G Kenny Fukon averaged 20.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a pair of games this week, shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe, while also registering half of the Lions points vs. Franciscan, draining a career-high 26 points on 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) shooting from the floor...Pitt-Greensburg G Torian Jenkins provided a lift off the bench for Pitt-Greensburg in their games this past week at Behrend and Pitt-Bradford, as he averaged 13 points, seven rebounds, and shot an efficient 75% from the floor, making 12 of 16 attempts...Hilbert G Hunter Martineau led the Hawks to a 1-0 record this week, posting 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists, as the senior guard was sharp from the field and three point arc, shooting 62.5 and 60 percent...Mount Aloysius G Nate Christian averaged 20 points per game for the Mounties during a 1-1 week, as he posted a solid 18 points, including 2-2 from three point range in a loss to La Roche, he then registered 22 points and six rebounds in a much-needed win over Alfred State...Pitt-Bradford F Nick Carmichael posted his third double-double of the season for Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon, as he scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and also pitched in two assists, a steal and a blocked shot.
