PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mount Aloysius F Carlos Palacio led the Mounties to an impressive two wins against D'Youville and Hilbert during the week, as part of their current three-game win streak. He averaged a double-double for the week, with 24 points in each game and 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. While recording his double-doubles, he also shot 62.5% from the field and 54.5% from deep, going 6-for-11 on the week. In Saturday's win against Hilbert, Palacio also registered five blocks and three assists.
BEST OF THE REST: La Roche G Darius Lawrence led the Redhawks in scoring both games this week to help his team go 2-0 in AMCC action and remain perfect in conference play with an 8-0 record, as he scored a game-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists and a steal in a victory over Alfred State, and then scored the go-ahead bucket with 5.3 seconds remaining against PS-Behrend to lift La Roche over the reigning conference champions, 57-55, finishing the contest with a game-high 17 points...PS-Altoona G Jack Kusters had an outstanding week for the Lions, helping his team go 1-1 in a pair of AMCC games, as he averaged 24.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting an impressive 65.5% (19-for-29) from the field, including going 6-for-12 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-for-5 at the foul line...Pitt-Greensburg G Matt Johnson helped propel the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team to victories this past week over Penn College (103-80) and at Medaille (89-70), as he was the Bobcats' high scorer in both contests and over the two-games, averaging 21.5 points, shooting 62.1% (18-29) from the floor, and knocking down 50% (6-12) of his attempts from behind the three-point arc...Medaille F Jonathan Smith was the leader for the Mavericks this week which saw them earn a win over Franciscan and drop a game to Pitt-Greensburg ending their four game win streak, as he recorded 25 points and 14 rebounds against the Barons and also chipped in with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds against UPG...Franciscan F Travis Lien helped lead the Barons to a split this week, as he scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds in a tough loss to Medaille, and then followed that up by scoring a team high 21 points on Saturday in the victory over Alfred State, while also adding nine rebounds and three steals...D'Youville F Grant Beyer had another impressive week for the Spartans, leading the team against Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, as he scored a team-high 17 points in the loss to the Mounties, shooting 41.7% from the field and 60% from three to go with 100% from the line...PS-Behrend G Kenny Fukon averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of AMCC games this week, as he shot 62 percent for 13 points in the win over Pitt-Bradford, while also adding a team-best 14 points vs. La Roche on Saturday...Hilbert G Masia Phillips led the Hawks to a 1-1 record this week, averaging 21 points and five rebounds per game.
