BEHREND'S SADA, MYERS NAMED TO GOOGLE CLOUD ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Penn State Behrend baseball seniors Phil Myers and Scott Sada have been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III Team, selected by CoSIDA.

Sada and Myers are among 33 student-athletes selected as Academic All-Americans and landed on the third team. Sada is one six of the repeat selections from 2018. Last season, he was a third-team honoree. Myers and Sada were chosen to Academic All-District First Team to advance to the All-America ballot and are being recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom

Sada, a plastics engineering technology major, finished his collegiate career with a 3.76 GPA. The short stop is a two-time All-District and Academic All-American. Sada was recently named the Behrend Male Athlete of the Year for his standout four years in a baseball uniform, specifically his senior season. He led the team in hits, runs, doubles and stolen bases. Sada set the NCAA Division III career doubles record and was six hits away from breaking the program record in career hits. Academically, he was a four-time Academic All-AMCC selection two-time Chi Alpha Sigma member.

Myers is earning his first Academic All-America honors. The nursing major also was named the Behrend Male Scholar Athlete of the Year for having the highest student-athlete GPA at 3.92. The starting hurler went 7-1 on the mound this season, pitching four complete games. Myers fanned 34 batters and led the team with a 2.35 ERA. Academically, he is a four-time Academic All-AMCC selection and a two-year member of Chi Alpha Sigma. Myers is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Student Nursing Association of Pennsylvania.
