LA ROCHE DEFEATS BEHREND TO FORCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 7

In a day beset by ever-changing weather conditions, Game 6 of the AMCC baseball championship was finally decided at 7:30pm when top seed and defending champion La Roche College fought off their third elimination game of the tournament by defeating #3 seed Penn St. Behrend, 10-5.

With the win, La Roche forced a tiebreak game on Sunday.  First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.

The teams went toe to toe in the early going, each scoring two runs in the first inning and one in the second. After three scoreless innings, Behrend took the lead with one in the sixth, only to see the Redhawks explode for five in the seventh and push the game out of reach.

La Roche enjoyed quality performances by RF Corey Lazor (3 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBI), DH Joe Professori (4 for 5, 1 run, 1 RBI) and LF Luis Novedo (2 for 4, 2 RBI, 1 run).  Freshman Tanner Stanz got the win for the Redhawks.  Behrend was sparked by 1B Brian Boehme (4 for 5, 3 RBI, 1 run) and 2B Scott Sada (3 for 5, 1 RBI, 1 run).  Two of Sada's three hits were for doubles, bringing his season total to 24 and breaking the school record.

The winner of Sunday's game will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
