AMCC SAAC GETS DOWN TO BUSINESS AT IN-PERSON MEETING

The AMCC SAAC had a full agenda at their first in-person meeting of the year this past Sunday, hosted by Penn State Behrend.

The group reviewed the proposed NCAA legislation, weighing in on the amendment to permit expanded use of social media by coaches in recruiting (they opposed it) and adding a three day acclimatization period for soccer (they were split down the middle).

They also discussed ways in which they could collaborate on a conference-wide community service project.  It was agreed to spend the next several months organizing a campus collection drive of clothing such as socks, hats and gloves for donation to a local homeless shelter in their communicities.

The students spent the last part of the meeting filing short videos encouraging teammates and classmates to seek help with mental health issues such as stress, depression, and anxiety.  The videos will be shared with all member campuses for posting on websites, social media, and video boards.

The next in-person meeting will be Sunday, April 7.  Host sites will be Pitt-Greensburg (south members) and Hilbert College (north members).
