Women's Volleyball Competes at the St. John Fisher Invitational

PITTSFORD, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Friday night at the St. John Fisher Invitational, falling to Lasell and St. John Fisher, 3-0.  

Match One:
Final Score:
Lasell 3, Behrend 0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18)
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-5), Lasell (5-6)

Match One:

* Lasell pulled out to a double-digit lead in the first set (16-5) and held off the Lions for a 1-0 lead
* The second set was tied six times and seven lead changes
* Lasell had set point three times and won on a kill by Emily VanHouten at 25-23 for a 2-0 advantage
* VanHouten also closed out the third and final set with a kill at 25-18
* Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) registered 10 kills on 20 attempts with three errors for a .350 hitting percentage
* Breana Reynolds (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) hit .714 with five kills
* Bridget Dorr (El Segundo, CA/El Segundo) had 14 assists and three digs, while Sara Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) paced the team with seven digs

St. John Fisher 3, Behrend 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-18)
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-6), St. John Fisher (4-3)

Match Two:

* After takin the first set 25-17, the Cardinals broke open a four-point lead in the second set and won the final seven points at 25-15
* The Lions had an 11-5 lead in the third set, but another seven-point run put St. John Fisher ahead 12-11
* After seeing four more ties in the third (18-18), the Cardinals once again had a seven-point run at the end to win 25-18
* Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) had seven kills and two digs
* Dorr added 11 assists to her 14 from the first match to make it 25 assists on the night
* Nobach and Kelli Hoffer (DuBois, PA/DuBois) each had six digs

* Behrend returns to action tomorrow against Nazareth at 2 p.m. and Rochester at 4 p.m. in the RIT Tournament.
