Wooster, Oh. -- Coming off of a grueling 5 set match, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team took on Wooster in their second game of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic on Friday night. After a slow start, the Panthers gained a foothold in the match but fell 3-1.

The Panthers dropped the opening set 10-25 and the second 24-26. They got one back, winning set 3 25-20, but lost set 4 17-25 to close the match.

The Panthers struggled early in set 1 as the hosts quickly scored the first 7 points of the match. A Ruby Smith kill ended the run, but it did not slow Wooster for long. After a pair of Olivia Reese kills and a third from Talia Magno, the Fighting scots went on another rally, scoring 10 of 12 points to push their lead to double digits. Taj-Zhane Dixon, Chloe Bellis, and Ryley Pago all added late kills, but it was not enough as the Panthers lost set one 25-10.

The Panthers slow start looked to continue into set two as Wooster took an early 1-4 lead, but a Darby Deniston kill led to 4 straight from the Panthers that gave them their first lead of the match. for the remainder of the set, the teams traded rallies, staying within two points of each other. Deniston led the Panthers' attack in the set, recording 10 kills. Pago put down a kill to tie the set at 24, but Wooster scored two straight to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

Pitt-Bradford used a late run in set 3 to break Wooster's momentum. After falling behind 6-9, the Panthers scored 4 in a row to take a 10-9 lead. The Fighting Scots came back and scored two quick points to take the lead, but the Panthers went on to score 11 of the next 15 points run to build a 6-point lead. Wooster was able to pull a few points back to get the Pitt-Bradford advantage to 4, but Kaitlyn Sexton put down two late kills to give the Panthers the set.

The Panthers battled hard in set four, erasing an early deficit, but they were never able to lead as the hosts slowly pulled away to win the match-clinching set. 

Farby Deniston led the Panthers with 15 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. She also added 6 digs, an ace, and half a block. Olivia Reese also reached double figures with 10 kills. Tabitha Walker finished the match with 35 assists and 12 digs. Kayla Maslowski led the team in digs with 15.

The Panthers drop to 2-9 on the season after the loss. They will be right back in action tomorrow with two more matches at the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic. They start their day with a match against Westminster at 10:00 a.m., before taking on Capital at noon.
