Bluffton wins two on day two of Bengal Challenge

BUFFALO, NY – The Bluffton University women's volleyball team picked up two wins on day two of the Bengal Challenge against Buffalo State (3-1) and Pitt-Greensburg (3-0). The Beavers improved to 8-4 on the season while the Bengals fell to 4-3 and the Bobcats dropped to 0-6.

The Beaver offense was powered by Maddie White (Ashland) who hammered home 14 winners and dished out 20 assists against the host Bengals. Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) smashed 13 kills with only two errors for a blazing .458 hitting percentage and she also tallied three blocks. Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) added eight kills to her stat line, while Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay (Ohio) tallied 16 helpers and seven digs in the victory.

Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) led the defense with 19 digs and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) added 10 pickups. Lindsey Shaw (Findlay/Van Buren) and Paige Massie (Alvada/Arcadia) both fired two aces apiece for the good guys.

In the Saturday finale, the Beavers faced off against Pitt-Greensburg and once again, Woods led the offense with 12 kills and another red-hot .500 hitting percentage. White found herself back on the team leaderboard as well with nine winners, 22 assists, and six digs. Julianne Kincaid (Galion/Northmor) added to the books, hammering home eight shots to the opposition's floor. Organ picked up 18 digs in the victory, leading the Bluffton defense once again. Weekley fired three aces, while Massie was just one off her pace with two more for the good guys.

Woods, White and Organ were named to the Bengal Challenge All-Tournament Team for their work at Buffalo State over the weekend!

The Beavers head back home and return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they welcome Wilmington College to Copeland Court. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Go Beavers!
