Lady Redhawks lock down a win; Butler nets 23 points

GREENSBURG, PA - Lady Redhawks steal a win on the road after it goes down to the final eight seconds where the hero of the game, Shaundrea Butler, hit two free throws to win the game for La Roche. 

The last time these teams battled it out earlier in the month, the Redhawks took a loss at home after only playing with eight of their players due to covid-19 protocols. This time, the team wasn't going to leave without evening the score. 

The battle came down to the final two minutes when DJ Whittingham tied the game with a made three point jump shot (60-60). Butler took the lead with a made jump shot, it was short-lived however with UPG hitting a two point bucket themselves. 

Butler was able to seal the deal for the Redhawks in the final few seconds, hitting three free throws in a row. 

Butler on top of being the most dynamic player of the night, was also the leading scorer. She netted 23 points; shooting 100 percent from the three point line. Following suit was Machia Hairston who completed 12 points, shooting 75 percent from field goal range. 

The team shot 44.8 percent from field goal range, and 50 percent from the three point line. Of their 65 points, 38 came from in the paint. The Redhawk defense forced 14 turnovers out of the Bobcats and ran away with 12 points from those turnovers. 

Anyanna Mazyck led the rebounding charge with 10 rebounds, she coupled it with nine points. 

The women are back in action at home this Saturday against Hilbert, tipoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
