Women's Soccer Unable to Break Through, Fall to Elmira 4-0

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team was unable to break through the Elmira College line on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Soaring Eagles 4-0.

In the first half, the Panthers were able to limit Elmira to 7 shots, with only 3 of them finding the target. Woo was able to make two stops, but after a failed clearance, was beat to the far corner on a well-placed shot that curled away from her.

Elmira turned things up in the second half and increased the pressure on the Pitt-Bradford defense and transition. The Soaring Eagles second goal came on a rebound after a mishit shot in the 49th minute. Wood kept the Panthers within shouting distance for the next 20 minutes, but two late goals on high arcing shots pushed the score to 4-0.

The Panthers were limited to only two shots, as they struggled to move the ball from the defensive third into an attacking position. McKenna Kelly and Riley Stowe were able to get the shots off, but neither found the target. Sadie Wood made 13 saves in the game.

The Panthers fall to 0-7 with the loss. They will have the weekend off to recuperate and prepare for their next match. On Wednesday, September 28th, they will travel to Buffalo, where they will take on former AMCC foe Medaille under the lights. The game is slated to kick off at 6:30 p.m.
