PITTSBURGH, PA - In tonight's semi final battle, the women's basketball team of La Roche University took on the Lady Pioneers of Alfred State. No. 5 seed Alfred was not able to upset the Redhawks like they did to the Hilbert Hawks, and La Roche came out with a victory. Championship dancing tomorrow is the Redhawks. 

Leading tonight's change was Ayanna Mazyck. Mazyck shot 56.2 percent for field goal range, netting a total of 19 points in tonight's contest. 

The Redhawk defense was working overtime to make sure that the team landed no where else but in the championship game. They forced 17 turnovers from the Pioneers. With those 17 turnovers, La Roche was able to convert those into 19 points. Alexis Robison completed 10 points, one of the three Redhawks to rack up double digits. 

The score might not reflect it, but in the beginning, this game was incredibly tense, the pressure could be felt by everyone in the room, almost like everyone was about to play the game that would lead one team on the road to the NCAA Division III Tournament. 

The Redhawks put in the work, and it shows in their numbers. The team in the paint put up 44 points to Alfred's 32. Another place where the team shined was in second chance points. La Roche put up 26 second chance points, led by Makayla Abram, who had the second highest scoring night with 18 points. She also had nine rebounds on the night. 

The unsung heroes of tonight's battle are Shaundrea Butler, who led LRU in assists with seven, and Machia Hairston, who tied Abram with nine rebounds as well. 

The AMCC Championship Playoff duel will take place tomorrow, at 3:00 PM against Pitt-Greensburg who upset No. 2 seed, Penn State-Behrend.
