Three Point Shooting Lifts Hawks Past Pioneers

Taylor Corts hit six of Hilbert's nine 3-pointers as the Hawks defeated Alfred State 68-54 on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 5-2 on the year while the Pioneers are now 3-3.

Hilbert led 36-30 at half but used a big 3rd quarter highlighted by three 3-pointers by Corts to take control of the game. The Hawks led by as many as 20 in the contest.

Emily Kelley (Wellsville) led the blue & gold with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Janae Gibson (Bronx/Pelham Prep) finished with 12 points and 13 boards. Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) added nine.

Alfred State shot 27.8% (20 for 72) from the field, 11.8% (2 for 17) from three, and 75% (12 for 16) from the foul line. The Pioneers held a 51 to 44 advantage on the boards.

Corts led all scorers with 29 points (6 for 13 from three) while Ashley Repine finished with 11 points. Katelyn Proy added eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks shot 35.6% (21 for 59) from the field, 37.5% (9 for 24) from three, and hit 73.9% (17 for 23) from the foul line.

The Pioneers hit the road on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Buffalo State.
