ERIE, Pa. – The Hilbert College softball team opened their final weekend with a double header road-trip loss at Penn state Behrend this afternoon.
Penn State Behrend's Allania Banta hit the circuit today connecting for a single, double and triple in the opening 8-0 victory and then closed the double header with a 3 RBI homer in the 12-1 night cap win.
Four different Hawks posted single hits in the 3pm contest.
Hilbert started the stay with a lot of action in the first inning.
Chelsea Buono singled and moved to second after
Rebecca Bailey's hit sailed down left field line.
TylerLynn Langer reached on a fielder's choice but the Lion's third baseman was credited with an unassisted out. Two other pop-outs ended the inning.
Behrend connected with two doubles scoring twice in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead which held steady until the bottom of the 3rd.
Crystal Hailey slapped a hit in the top of the 5th inning and
TylerLynn Langer singled through the right side in the sixth.
But the Lions added a few runs every other inning until they stretched their lead to an 8-run rule in the sixth.
Victoria Dzaak took the loss going five full innings before Langer took the ball in the circle. The rookie pitcher gave up three walks, with one hit but was in the circle when the Lions hit the 8-run advantage.
in the night cap and after the Lions reached a 9-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, Hilbert swapped pitchers to get out of the inning.
Rookies
Chelsea Buono and
Jenna Castricone reached for hits in the night cap and Langer earned the Hawks solo RBI on the day in the top of the fourth inning.
Buono singled through the right side and made it to second when
Rebecca Bailey sac bunted.
Rachel Collier reached on an error and advanced Buono to third base. When Langer grounded out, Buono sprinted home for the solo run of the day.
Jenna Castricone singled to right center as the Hawks last hit for the day.

Hilbert (2-26, 0-16) gets back at it tomorrow when they close their season at Franciscan University (1-29, 0-16) tomorrow.
