Panthers Make Quick Work of Keuka, Win 6th Straight

Keuka Park, N.Y. -- After going 5-0 last week, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Volleyball team won its 6th straight game on Tuesday night, going on the road to beat Keuka in three sets.

The Panthers quickly dispatched their hosts in a match that lasted just over an hour. They came from behind in set one to win 25-21, dominated the second set 25-10, and finished with a 25-16 win in set three to close the match.

  • Despite their run of good form, the Panthers got off to a slow start as Keuka quickly scored the first five points of the match. Pitt-Bradford did respond quickly as they scored four straight and then slowly chipped away to tie the set at 9.
  • Trailing 14-15, the Panthers went on another 4-point run to take the lead for good.
  • In the second, the Panthers used four-point serving runs from Jordan Sitler and Eve Brink to quickly build a 10-point lead.
  • The Wolves were able to cut the lead to 7, but the Panthers closed on a 9-1 run to close the set.
  • The final set saw the teams remain close through the majority of the set. After the Panthers pushed the lead to three, they finished the match by scoring the final six points, ending on a block by Jordan Sitler.

Emily Cleveland led the Panthers once again, finishing with 10 kills. She also had 7 digs. Olivia Reese was just behind Cleveland, as she put down 8 kills while only committing one error. She added four service aces and 4 digs. Tabitha Walker tallied 20 assists and Stephanie Carson led the defensive effort with 16 digs.

The Panthers are now 7-3 on the year. They will have a quick turnaround, as they will return to Bradford and host Allegany College tomorrow night. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
