Women's Basketball Rolls Pitt-Bradford

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team rolled to a 91-40 victory over Pitt-Bradford on the opening night of the program's annual Pride-Spirit-Honor Tournament at the Capital Union Building on Saturday night, Nov. 27.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (4-2) made it look easy in a 50-plus point win over Pitt-Bradford (2-4) on Saturday night. With the victory, the Lions clinched a spot in the Pride-Spirit-Honor Championship Game on Sunday afternoon. Jayla Galbreath led the way with 27 points, Kendis Butler netted 14 of her own, and Kayla Cade added 10 off the bench.

 

The Blue & White jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes before putting together a 15-0 run to end the first quarter. Galbreath, Butler, Toni Amato, and Alli Walton combined for the first-quarter spurt before Butler came to life early in the second quarter, burying back-to-back 3-balls to extend the advantage to 36-6 at the 7:36 mark.

 

The home team closed out the first half on a 14-6 run capped by a Galbreath layup at the buzzer to take a commanding 51-16 lead into the break. The third quarter saw Cade and Macy Carroll get into the action and push the advantage to 73-29 after three. Galbreath finished off her spectacular night with three more 3-pointers in the fourth before Carroll put an exclamation point on the team's scoring with a triple with 2:49 left to play.

- The Lions shot 47.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point territory.

- Pitt-Bradford shot just 19.7 percent from the floor and 9.1 percent from 3-point range.

- The Blue & White won the rebounding battle 53-47.

- Penn State Harrisburg's bench outscored the Panther reserves 35-14.

- The home team scored 31 points off Pitt-Bradford turnovers.

- Jayla Galbreath netted a career-high 27 points on 10-12 shooting from the field, including 7-9 from distance. She also dished out five assists.

- Kendis Butler scored 14 points to go along with four assists, four rebounds, and a steal.

- Kayla Cade scored 10 points and grabbed five boards off the bench.

- Macy Carroll knocked down three 3-pointers to tally nine points in a reserve role.

- Alli Walton added eight points and six rebounds.

- Sydney Hemler netted six points and racked up five steals.

- Jenna Montana grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with five assists and six points.

- Anna Mahan and Toni Amato pulled down six boards apiece. Mahan had two blocks, while Amato dished out five assists.
