Hawks Down Pioneers in Rain Shortened Game

Hilbert collected 14 hits as they defeated Alfred State 6-0 in a rain shortened game on Friday afternoon. The contest was called when heavy rains started in the bottom of the 6th inning.

The Hawks collected single runs in the 1st and 3rd innings and put the game out of reach with four unearned runs, all scored with two outs, in the 5th.

Rachel Allen allowed just a 5th inning double to Arianna Traugott (Elmira) as she earned the victory. She walked one and struck out five.

Alyssa Barnas was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to lead the Hawks (8-10) 14-hit attack.

The Pioneers drew back to back walks to start the 6th but the rain started to come down harder forcing the teams off the field.

Sunday's contest at Cazenovia has been postponed. The two teams are looking for a date to make-up the game. The Pioneers will next be in action on Wednesday when they host Elmira for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
