Avallone Hits a Pair of Homers in SC Finale

Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) hit a homer in each half of the Alfred State's Wednesday doubleheader to conclude the South Carolina portion of their spring break trip. The Pioneers were victims of the big inning in both games and fell 13-2 to Case Western and 13-3 to Roger Williams.

Case Western put together three big innings in their victory. They scored three in the 1st, three in the 4th, and four in the 9th. Both of the Pioneers runs came off the bat of Avallone. He hit a RBI single in the 1st and lifted a homer to right in the 6th.

Avallone finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI while Connor Pingitore (Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth) was 2 for 3.

Roger Wiliams used a four run 3rd and four run 6th to take control of their contest with the Pioneers. Samuel Dickerson (Cutchogue/Mattituck) hit a solo homer to left in the 4th to get the Pioneers on the board and Avallone hit his second round tripper of the day, a two-run shot, in the 5th to right field.

Pingitore had a big game as he finished 4 for 5 while Avallone and Dickerson were each 2 for 5.

Avallone now has four homers on the season 18 RBI in the team's first 12 games.

The Pioneers have Thursday off as they travel to Florida. They play next vs. Skidmore in Ft. Myers at the Player Development Center on Friday. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 9 a.m.
