Buffalo, N.Y. -- On the strength of two dominant pitching performances, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team came away with a sweep of Medaille on Tuesday. The Panthers took game one 3-1 and the nightcap 6-1.

Game 1

• The Panthers fell behind 1-0 early, as Medaille was able to take a 2nd inning lead. Starter Reid Tarnowski allowed a one-out single followed by a double to left to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. He was able to induce a ground ball from the next batter, but a fielding error allowed the run to score. Tarnowski was able to settle down, as he struck out the next two batters to escape the inning without further damage.
• Pitt-Bradford looked to strike back in the 3rd as Nico Hall singled through the left side before stealing second and moving to third on a wild pitch, all with one out. The Panthers were unable to take advantage as the next two batters grounded out sharply to short and popped up to first. 
• Tarnowski limited the Mavericks to just two walks over the next two innings and was rewarded, as the Panthers tied the game in the 5th. with two down, Hall drilled a triple into left field to bring in Tyler Aires, who had previously reached on a fielder's choice, to even the game at one.
• In the bottom half, Tarnowski allowed two runners to reach on double and fielders choice but retired three in a row to record the shutdown inning.
• He was rewarded in the 6th as the Panthers took the lead. Jake McNabb started the rally as he lined a two-out single into left field. He quickly took second on a wild pitch and then scored as Justin Dattoli reached on an error in the infield. Pitt-Bradford then added an insurance run as Noah Meyers hit a double to the gap in right-center to bring in Dattoli. 
• Tarnowski gave up a leadoff double in the 6th but retired the final six in order to finish the game.

Reid Tarnowski (2-4) allowed just one unearned run on four hits and two walks as he registered his first complete-game victory of the season. He struck out 8 batters in the effort and allowed just two hits over the final five innings of play. Meyers and Hall both finished 2 for 3 in the game and drove in a run. Jake McNabb, Justin Dattoli, and Tyler Aires all scored for Pitt-Bradford.

Game 2

In the nightcap, Alex Miles spun another complete game, his fourth of the season to lead the Panthers to a 6-1 win. 

• The Panthers took an early lead as they quickly scored a run in the inning without recording an out. Jake McNabb led off with a single through the left side, and then quickly moved into scoring position as he stole second base. Justin Dattoli followed this with a single to left to bring McNabb in to put the Panthers up 1-0.
• Starting pitcher Alex Miles worked quickly early, limiting the Mavericks to four singles through the first five innings. The only inning he allowed more than one runner on base was in the 4th, where he allowed two singles, but also struck out the side.
• Pitt-Bradford added a second run in the 6th. Jake McNabb, Justin Dattoli, and Noah Meyers hit three consecutive singles to load the bases with one out. McNabb was able to scamper home on a passed ball, but the Panthers were unable to add more as the next two batters were set down on strikes.
• Medaille came back with a run of their own in the bottom half. The Mavericks hit a one-out single, and then extended the inning as a batter beat the relay throw on a potential inning-ending double play. The next batter delivered a double to left-center to bring in the run and halve the deficit.
• The Panthers were able to regain momentum immediately in the 7th with another two-out rally. Nico Hall hit a double down the right-field line and then quickly scored as Evan Fragela lined a double to left field. Miles returned to the mound in the 7th and quickly recorded a shutdown inning before the Panthers tacked on the 4th run in the 8th.
• Dattoli was hit by a pitch to start the inning and then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Following a Panther strikeout, Jake Soricone pinch hit and grounded a single through the right side to bring in Dattoli.
• Miles worked around a leadoff single in the 8th to put another shutdown inning on the board. The Panthers continued using their momentum to add two final runs in the 9th. Kevin Rehak started the inning with a leadoff walk and moved to second on a single by Hall. Both runners stole second and third before McNabb singled to left to score the first. Dattoli hit a hard line drive to short in the next at-bat, which was dropped, allowing the second run to score.
• Miles finished the game with a 5-pitch 9th inning.

In 9 innings pitched, Alex Miles (3-3)  gave up 1 run on 7 hits without walking a batter. He struck out a career-high 13 batters, nearly doubling his previous best. Jake McNabb and Justin Dattoli each registered 3 hits in the game, while Nico Hall added two more. Fragela, McNabb, Dattoli and pinch hitter Jake Soricone all picked up RBIs.

The wins move the Panthers to 10-18 on the season with a 3-7 record in conference play. They will prepare for a busy weekend as they will host a pair of conference doubleheaders. They will take on Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday and then host Mount Aloysius on Sunday. Games will begin at 1:00 p.m. on both days at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
