WVB: Wildcats Honor Kaley Pichura and Samantha Humiston on Senior Day.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team celebrated senior day on Thursday night with a 3-0 win over Hilbert. The Wildcats honored their two seniors, Kaley Pichura and Samantha Humiston, with a short ceremony before the game. The game was the last of the regular season for the Wildcats. They finish with a 9-15 overall record with a 4-4 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The game was never in doubt for the Wildcats who swept the Hawks in three sets 25-8, 25-14, 25-10. The Wildcats hit .347 as a team which was their highest hitting percentage this season. They also had 12 service aces to Hilberts one ace. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Senior Kaley Pichura had seven kills for the Wildcats. She hit an impressive .429, had a match-high 30 assists, and had 10 digs in her final home game as a Wildcat. 

  • Senior Samantha Humiston had a solid performance for the Wildcats. She had seven kills on 19 swings and had a match-high five service aces in her final game at the Wildcat Field House. 

  • Emma Draper had a match-high eight kills for the wildcats. She also had a block assist, five digs, and a service ace. 

  • Sydney Pellman had a match-high 16 digs for SUNY Poly. She also had four service aces and a pair of assists. 

  • Ryan Fitzgerald and Brennah Durfee each had seven kills in the match. Fitzgerald added three aces and four digs to her stat line. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will head to SUNY Delhi this weekend to take part in the NAC post-season tournament. The Wildcats earned the #3 seed in the West Division with their 4-4 performance in the regular season. They will take on the #2 Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, October 30th at 5:00 PM. The semifinal round will take place on Sunday, October 31st. That game will also take place at SUNY Delhi.
