Preview: Men's Basketball vs. D'Youville

McCANDLESS, Pa. - After a two week holiday break, the Redhawks return to action this Saturday at the Kerr Fitness Center to face off against conference opponent D'Youville. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out: In the AMCC Game of the Week on December 21st, men's basketball took down Pitt Greensburg, who was previously undefeated in conference play, by a score of 89-73 to move to the top spot in the AMCC standings. Junior forward Tyler Frederick led the Redhawks with a career-high 34 points while knocking down a conference season-high 15 field goals on 21 shots (71%). Frederick also reeled in 12 rebounds in the contest, picking up his fifth double-double of the year, and added three steals and a block to the stat sheet. The Butler native was dubbed the AMCC Player of the Week for the third time in his career for his performance against UPG. As a unit, the Redhawks limited Pitt Greensburg to just 27 made field goals, tied for their second lowest mark of the season. LRU on the other hand knocked down 36 field goals on 68 attempts (53%), their second highest mark this season.

  • Tyler Frederick currently leads the AMCC in both points per game (20.4) and rebounds per game (11.5) and also ranks fifth in field goal percentage (57%). He is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double.
  • Senior guard Kennedy Smith is right behind his teammate, averaging 20.3 points per game (2nd in AMCC). Smith also ranks second in the conference in 3-PT percentage  at 54.5%.
  • Junior guard Austin Hannes has knocked down 27 of 69 (39%) shots from beyond the arc this season, the second most triples in the AMCC.
  • The Redhawks are averaging a conference best 93.0 points per game against the AMCC, that's 15.3 points more than the next highest scoring team (Medaille: 77.7 PPG)
