GREENSBURG, Pa. – Pitt-Greensburg doubled-up the Hilbert team's offensive production in the second half and took a home-court victory, 75-44 today in women's basketball.
Shannon Rogers was the only Hawk to reach double figures scoring as Hilbert fell to 3-18 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference league standings.
The Bobcats (14-9) had five players reach double-digits, three of those players came off the bench. Kayla Dames led with 14 markers and team-high seven rebounds.
The Hawks found themselves down by 10 points at the break having scored only 22 first-half points.
Statistically both teams were relatively close. Greensburg sank just one more shot beyond the arc and from the foul line. But due to Hilbert's 13 first half turnovers, the Bobcats gained more possessions and looks at the hoop. The hosts shot 37% and held Hilbert to 29% field goal shooting.
The second half played out much like the first period but Greensburg's dramatic improved field goal percentage proved to be the difference maker. The Bobcats sank 18 of their 33 attempts (54.5%) while Hilbert made only nine of their 25 attempts (36%).
Greensburg's defensive pressure began to take its toll on Hilbert who coughed-up 14 additional turnovers the last 20-minutes. For the game, the Bobcats converted 30 points off turnovers.
Hilbert got scoring from eight different Hawks.
Wyann Jackson posted seven points and
Amber Hay followed with six points and game-high honors with three blocks.
Rogers, Hay and
Jennifer Colvin (3 offensive) combined for 17 of the Hawks 39 rebounds.
