Pioneers Sweep Redhawks - Reach 15 Victories

The Alfred State volleyball team bounced back after a loss on Wednesday with a convincing 25-17, 25-11, 25-17 victory over La Roche on Saturday. The Pioneers are now 15-2 overall and 5-1 in AMCC play.

Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) and Racquel Gerstenberger (Schoharie) both registered double-doubles. Perkins led the team with 11 kills and added 10 digs while Gerstenberger had 10 kills and 10 digs. Perkins also led the team with six service aces.

Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge) passed out 35 assists, had 12 digs, and had four aces while the trio of Faith McCombs (Amityville/Copiague), Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD), and Alyssa Martin (Portville) combined for 16 kills. 

Alfred State connected on 41 kills and had a .292 hitting percentage. They also served well registering 13 service aces.

Bethany Nulph led the Redhawks (6-15, 3-4 AMCC) with nine kills, Krystal Anda passed out eight assists, and Sydney Herzer had 13 digs.

The Pioneers continue their homestand on Tuesday when they host Hilbert at 7 p.m. The game will be the team's annual Pink Pride game and senior night. Funds will be raised to benefit the Allegany Cancer Services.
