Behrend Women's Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at York

YORK, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball split a non-conference tri-match at York College, defeating the Alfred Saxons 3-0 and falling to the Spartans 3-1 at the Charles Wolf Gymnasium on Saturday.

Match One:

* The Spartans won the first set, before the Lions tied it with a 25-21 win in the second
* Behrend hit .375 in the second set and registered 12 kills
* York was victorious in the final two sets for the win  
* Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) tallied a team-best 11 kills and eight digs
* Setter Bridget Dorr (El Segundo, CA/El Segundo) had 20 assists and two aces
* Sara Novak (Lower Burrell, PA/Lower Burrell) added seven digs and Kelli Hoffer (DuBois, PA/DuBois) knocked down five kills

Match Two:

* The Lions held Alfred to a total of nine kills in three sets played
* Behrend had 16 kills with no errors in the second set, while holding the Saxons to seven points
* Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) and Phillips contributed 12 kills and seven digs apiece
* The Lions got 11 points off serves, led by seven aces from Dorr and and four from Hoffer
* Joncas had five kills in the first set to help the Behrend ake a 1-0 lead with a 25-15 decision
* Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) dished out 24 assists, while Sarah Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) completed the day with 27 digs, getting 15 in the first and 12 vs. Alfred
