Box Score

HAMBURG, N.Y. – With the score board showing a 3-0 Penn State Behrend victory over Hilbert, the play on the field was much closer than the final score indicated.  The Hawks defense limited and frustrated the high-scoring Lions offense and Grace Adams was aggressive and played very well in net for Hilbert.  Behrend stayed on top in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (8-2-1, 2-0) as Hilbert dropped to 3-6, 0-2.

The Hawks were solid with game control and passing.  They opted for shorter passes to their teammates feet offensively and defensively they interrupted Behrend's offensive flow.  But in the 39th minute, the Hawks were called for tripping in the box which led to the Lions first goal off a PK.

Late in the game, Behrend converted a break away pass into a goal, but only after Adams came out to break the play up.  The loose ball fell at the feet of the Lions player who knocked it home in the 73rd minute.  And 12-minutes later, with defense coverage there, Behrend connected on a rebound off the goal post for their final hit.

Adams took chances and came out of the goal to break up more centers and shots than in past games.  She was only credited with seven saves, but she had at least that same number of break-ups.  The Hawks back line defense also was critical in preventing a few goals covering the frame when Adams stepped out on the ball.

The Lions defense held Hilbert's offense in-check as the Hawks attempted only three shots.

Behrend fired 22 shots but Hilbert's defensive line was credited with several blocked shots and the goal post and crossbar felt the pain of contact today as well.

Hilbert returns to action this weekend when they travel to Mount Aloysius Saturday, October 4.
