Bearcats compete in OBC Tournament


The Saint Vincent bowling teams traveled to Columbus, Ohio for an Ohio Bowling Conference event held at HP Lanes.  The men's team finished third among 15 varsity teams, while the women finished 7th of 15. 

Four Bearcats earned All-Tournament honors.  For the women, Jackie Koehler finished third overall, with an average of 200.6.  For the men, Josh Marks averaged 227 and finished as the tournament runner-up.  Eddie Zuzak finished fifth, with an average of 219.5.  For the JV men, Dominick Spence was fourth, with a 200 average.
 
The varsity men held the lead after the first two games of the day, shooting team scores of 1016 and 1068, an average of 208 for the team.  Brandon Dunmire shot a 237 game to lead the team, while Zuzak (255) and Marks (251) led the way in game two.  The Bearcats wrapped up the four-game traditional block with team scores of 1008 and 988.  Michael Fekete had a 244 in game three, while Marks added a 247 in the fourth game. 
 
Following Marks and Zuzak, Dunmire averaged 214 through the four game block, while Fekete finished at 193.
 
The women's team was in third place early in the day, after shooting games of 898, 912 and 936.  Jessica Guesman led the team with a 203 in game one, while Olivia Emmonds had a 218 in game two.  Jackie Koehler (238) and Guesman (203) were tops in game three, while Koehler added a 206 in the fourth traditional game.
 
Jackie Koehler's top average was followed by Guesman (196 average) Monique Koehler (190), and Emmonds (188.6).
 
In Baker games, the SVC women's high game was a 214, which featured six straight strikes.  Individually, Abby Kyle led the way with a per-frame average of 20.65, a game equivalent of 206.5.  She was followed by Guesman (18.65) and Sabine Strickland (17.61).  

For the men, it was again Marks leading the way in Baker play with a per-frame average of 22.31, a game equivalent of 223.1.  Fekete was second at 19.06, while Alex Vickers recorded an 18.80 average.  Anthony Strickland, a right-hander testing a "backup" 2-handed shot from the left side due to lane conditions, averaged 18.42.  

The SVC women's team will be back in action on Sunday, October 24, traveling to Greensburg to face Pitt-Greensburg at 12Noon.  The men will return to action on Saturday, November 6 in the Buckeye Baker Clash.
