Women's Tennis Drops Conference Opener to Mounties

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team opened their AMCC schedule on Saturday, falling to Mount Aloysius 6-3.

The Panthers went 1-2 in doubles play as each of the three matches were hotly contested. The Panthers won the match in the 3rd match, as Avitamarie Demieri and Lillian Hawk won their match 8-6. Maya Schiplick and Madilyn Rodgers were edged 6-8 in the top pairing, while Lydia Ehrensberger and Emily Snyder lost their match 4-8.

As the Match moved into singles play, the Panthers were able to win two of the matches, while dropping four. Emily Snyder was able to pick up a win in the best match of the day. Snyder won the first set 6-3, before falling in set 2 7-5, forcing a tiebreaker. In the third set, Snyder was able to outlast her opponent 11-9 to pick up the win. Demieri was able to pick up the other Panther win, taking the 6th matchup 6-3, 6-2.

The Panthers are now 1-3 on the season, with an 0-1 record in AMCC play. Their next match is scheduled for Sunday, September 25th, when they travel to Pitt-Greensburg for another AMCC matchup.
