FT. PIERCE, FL – The Hilbert College baseball team opened their 2017 season with an impressive victory this morning. The Hawks earned a 23-10 win over Eastern University (3-2) giving first-year head coach
Drew Fittry and his staff their first win of the season.
Hilbert collected 19 hits and posted 15 RBI's in the program's highest offensive explosion since their 21-6 victory over Franciscan in the 2010 season.

Eric Flores went 3 for 6 while freshman
Izaiah Diaz finished with 3 stolen bases while going 4 for 7 with 2 RBIs.

Ian Moran each earned a double today and drove in three runs as the Hawks ripped the game open with an eight-run 5th inning.

Ryan Samuels earned his first win on the mound, throwing two innings of relief.
Hilbert, after opening the game with two quick runs, trailed 4-2 through the first three innings. The Hawks knotted the game at 4-4 in the fourth and then erupted with eight runs taking a 12-6 lead by the top of the 6th. Hilbert continued their push at the plate as they tacked on multiple runs the next three innings.
The Hawks will travel north to Vero Beach tomorrow for their double header against Bridgewater State University (0-2) beginning at 11 am.
