Men’s Soccer Downed 10-0

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team was handed a 10-0 loss by Denison University on Saturday afternoon at Spring Run Stadium.

Denison (1-1) was led by a pair of two-goal performances, as Burke McLaughlin and Luca Vicinelli each found the back of the net twice.

Penn State Altoona (0-2) was limited to two shots on goal, with those coming courtesy of Dakota Casey (Norwalk, CT/Canterbury) and Jack Price (Unionville, PA/Unionville). In goal, Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made seven stops in 69:29, while Max Pedone (Seaford, NY/Seaford) played the final 20:31.

Denison established a big lead by halftime, scoring four first half goals.

McLaughlin got things started at 9:46, when he scored on a short range shot after taking a pass from across the box. The Big Red added unassisted goals from Leo Herard and Vicinelli, and Matt Rush scored on a shot from five yards out following a cross.

Denison continued to roll offensively, recording six goals in the second half.

McLaughlin scored his second goal of the day two minutes into the second period, before a Penn State Altoona own goal at 51:57 made it 6-0. The Big Red went on to get scores from Vicinelli, Harrison Netburn, Ethan Miracle, and Jackson Briggs.

Denison held a 23-3 advantage over the Lions in shots, including a 17-2 mark in shots on goal. The Big Red also led 9-0 in corner kicks.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's soccer hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to play Westminster College on Wednesday, September 4 at 5:00 p.m.
