Bobcats Claw Hawks On Senior Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College softball team celebrated their three seniors today.  Rachel Collier, Elissa Hall and Erin Smith took center stage before the AMCC double header against Pitt-Greensburg played at D'Youville's Athletic complex in the lower West Side of Buffalo.

Greensburg then took home two victories over the Hawks winning the opening game 10-1 in 5 innings and 15-5 in a 7-inning game.  The Bobcats improved to 7-7 in league play while the Hawks continue to search for their first conference win.

For the day, freshman Rebecca Bailey went 4 for 7 and Rachel Collier went 2 for 5 after hitting a double and knocking in two runs.

Greensburg rushed to a 5-inning opening win with runs in the 2nd, 4th and 5th innings.  The Hawks struck in the bottom of the fifth inning; after the Bobcats built a 10-0 lead,

Rachel Collier's double to the right field pushed Rebecca Bailey and Crystal Hailey home before the final out of the game.

TylerLynn took the loss give up 7 hits with one strike out.

After spotting the Bobcats three runs in the top of the second inning, Hilbert responded with a single tally. Jenna Castricone's doubled to left center. Erin Smith connected for a single up the middle and the rookie baserunner made it home cutting the lead to two runs.

A Bobcat home run and two doubles later, Greensburg held an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd.  That score would not budge until the Hawks rallied with three runs in the 5th which prevented an early ending to the game.

With a 2-out count, Bailey and Hailey each singled setting up two scorers on the bags.  TylerLynn Langer's base hit turned into an extra bag due to a Bobcat error, which gave Bailey time to sprint home.  Collier's two run single up the middle continued the game into the sixth inning with an 8-4 score.

Greensburg stretched their lead to nine-runs after another home run and a few doubles plus a triple along the way.

Phoenix Rollek picked up an RBI in the middle of the 7th sending Langer to home for the final 15-5 score.

Rebecaa Bailey and Jenna Castricone went 2 for 4 each.

Jaelyn Gotham struck out five while giving up only two walks but surrendered two homers in the loss.

Hilbert packs the vans early tomorrow morning and they head east to for a non-conference double header against Elmira beginning at 11 am.
