Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Three Players Notch Double-Doubles In Women's Overtime Win

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Taylor Corts and Emily Gawlak delivered the one-two punch Hilbert College needed tonight.  The women's basketball team's late-game rally lifted them to an 85-79 overtime win over Pitt-Bradford and set their record at 11-3 and 6-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.

For the first time in several years, three Hilbert players posted double doubles in the same game as the Hawks pulled out their second close game this week.

Bradford built a 37-27 half time lead before both teams traded bucket for bucket in the third quarter.  Hilbert outscored the Panthers 25-16 in the fourth and 18-12 in overtime.

Taylor Corts shared game-high scoring honors with Bradford's Shaelyn Snipes (26 points).  Corts added three assists and five rebounds in 44 minutes of action.

Emily Gawlak pushed-in 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while she and Katelyn Proy were credited with two blocks each.  Proy earned double dimes (10/10) and Ashley Repine tossed in 13 points and 10 rebounds with a solo block as well.

Demi Battin dished five assists and earned two steals, as she helped the Hawks break Bradford's full court pressure the full 45 minute game.

The Hawks took their first lead (59-58) when Proy sank the second of two free throws with just over four minutes in regulation.

Bradford's 3-point shot knotted the game at 63-63 one minute later.

Then Proy and Corts hit two buckets in the paint before the Panthers forced overtime with a pair of makes from the charity stripe with 0:24 on the game clock.

Hilbert quickly built a five-point lead once Corts drained a 3-pointer ahead of Gawlak converting a Demi Battin steal into two points in the paint.

The Hawks maintained their composure and controlled the pace each time Bradford drew within striking distance as they went 7-for-8 at the line in overtime, securing another AMCC win.

The Hawks hit the road this weekend when they travel to Penn State Altoona (7-7, 5-3 AMCC) for a 1pm AMCC game.
