ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team opens the 2022 season on the road against Eastern Mennonite on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

* Behrend returns six All-Conference selections from the 2021 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship winning team
* The Lions welcome back majority of their starting rotation, including preseason All-American Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine Richland)
* Zbezinski was selected to the third team by D3baseball.com and was named the AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year by the conference
* The senior pitcher enjoyed a successful season with an incredible 1.68 earned-run average and 11.89 strikeouts per nine, earning First Team All-Conference honors and regional accolades from ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com

* The Royals enter with a 1-2 record, opening their season with a loss on February 19 against Averett
* EMU grabbed its first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Mary Baldwin 17-6
* Seven different players registered an extra-base hit in the victory and seven were also credited with an RBI
* The Royals finished the 2021 season eighth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), clinching a playoff berth
* EMU knocked off Randolph-Macon in the first round of the postseason last year but was eventually eliminated by Shenandoah
