Pioneers Finish as AMCC Runner-Ups

The Alfred State volleyball team couldn't get going and fell 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 to #1 Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Championship match. The Lions earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Penn State Behrend used big runs in each of the three sets to control the match. The Lions hit .458 on the match (39 kills, six errors, and 72 attacks), served seven aces, and had 12 total blocks. Kristin Reiland led PSB (21-5) with 15 kills while Brooke Joncas finished with 11. Dani Kosslow passed out 37 assists and Maddie Clapper led the team with nine digs.

Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) led the team with nine kills and nine digs. Faith McCombs (Copiague) had seven kills, Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD) chipped in six kills, and Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge) passed out 25 assists. Alfred State hit only .082 on the day.

Perkins and Gregory were named the the AMCC All-Tournament team.

The Pioneers are now 18-3 overall and will await word of postseason opportunities with the NCAA or ECAC on Monday afternoon.
