BUFFALO, N.Y. -
Aaryonah Vaughn netted four goals to lead the Hilbert College women's lacrosse team in an 18-6 non-conference loss to Houghton College this afternoon at Dobson Field.
Calista Mis put the Hawks on the board with 3:34 left in the first half but Hilbert hit intermission trailing 8-1.
Vaughn and
Ashley Binn scored back-to-back goals after the break, pulled within five points and forced a Highlander timeout after four minutes of action.
Houghton picked up the pace and closed the game outscoring Hilbert 10-3 with Vaughn posting the final three Hawk hits.
The Highlanders held a 33-12 advantage in shots on goal and won 17 of the games 26 draw controls.
Vaughn and Mis (four draw controls) led Hilbert's offense with 6 and 3 shots on goal, respectively.
Alayna DeFazio led all Hilbert field players with two caused turn overs and three ground balls while winning three draw controls.
Goalie
Nicole Darrow was credited with nine save in the first half en route to a 15-save performance by the final horn.
The 0-2 Hawks return to action in two days when they host Alfred University at Eden High School March 21.
