Men's Volleyball Hosts First Tri-Match Of The Season

Wells College men's volleyball hosted their first tri-match of the season on Sunday afternoon. They fell in both matches to Penn State Behrend and Wilkes University, 0-3.

First up was Penn State Behrend. The Nittany Lions are the reigning AMCC champions and presented quite the challenge for the Express. In all three sets, Wells College fell behind early. The Lions built big leads and did not look back proving why they are reigning champions. The Express would not score more than 16 points in any set against Penn State Behrend but Connor Garvey would contribute 7 kills and Mason Moon had 9 assists.

The second match-up for the Express was Wilkes University. All three sets in this one were decided by 3 points or less, although the Express fell in three straight sets. At the end of the first set, a service error by the Express gave Wilkes the victory to go up 1-0. In the second and third sets, the Wilkes offensive power was too much for the Express to overcome late in the match. Connor Garvey had 14 kills in the match and mason Moon had 23 assists.

The Express relies a lot on first-year players who continue to improve with each match. Men's Volleyball will hit the road for Thiel on Tuesday.
