Senior Missy Dieckman-Meyer closed out her team's Spring Break trip with her eighth career shutout on Saturday, a 16-0 five-inning victory over Penn State University-Behrend. Lake Forest also dropped a 10-6 decision to Bethel University earlier in the day.

Senior Sydney Wyatt and junior Hannah Kalnicky each had three of the team's 12 base hits against Bethel while sophomore Josie Klein added two.

The Royals jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Kalnicky doubled in one run and scored another on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third inning. She added another RBI-double in the fourth and a two-run double by Wyatt and sacrifice fly by junior Shaye Gauthier cut the Bethel advantage to one after five innings.

The Royals, however, added to their lead with one run in the sixth and two in the seventh and the Foresters were unable to complete the comeback.

While Dieckman-Meyer limited Penn State Behrend to just one base hit in the second game of the day, Lake Forest had 14, including three once again by Wyatt. Kalnicky, senior Haylee Sherlund, and freshman Melissa Manzo added two apiece and every spot in the lineup contributed at least one.

A run-scoring double by Kalnicky highlighted a three-run first inning and the Foresters broke the game open with 10 in the third. They had seven hits in the frame, including the fourth double of the day and 10th this season by Kalnicky. Lake Forest added three more runs in the fourth to close out the scoring.

After starting the season with a pair of victories on March 5, Lake Forest has split games seven of the next nine days and is now 9-7 on the year. Bethel improved to 6-1 and Penn State Behrend fell to 1-10.

With colleges canceling competition for at least the next few weeks, the timing of the Foresters' next games has yet to be determined.
