The Wolves Take Down the Hawks in Men's Soccer

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Keuka College jumped out to a 5-0 half time lead and coasted to a non-conference victory over the visiting Hilbert Hawks tonight.

Hilbert switched things up in the second period in an attempt to flip things around, but the Hawks had too large a hole to climb out of, falling 6-0.

Keuka improved to 2-1 and Hilbert fell to 0-3 in the early part of their 2016 season.

"It has been a difficult start with three away games against three challenging teams.  Keuka deserved to win tonight but tomorrow is another day," said coach Selim Talbi.

In the first 45-minutes, Hilbert attempted one shot which gave the Wolves' keeper a single saves to his credit before he was replaced after intermission.

Ryan Valentine faced eight shots on goal and made three saves in the first half before he retired to the sidelines.  The hosts scored an unassisted goal in the 6th minute before they struck again in the 24th.  Keuka found the back of the net three times in a span of almost five minutes and built a 5-0 score which they carried to the break.

Brandon Henry took over the net-minding duties for Hilbert to start the second half and was credited with three saves after giving up a marker just over five minutes into action.

Keuka finished the match with a 27-9 advantage in shots and 12-2 in shots on goal.  The Wolves took 13 corner kicks while limiting the Hawks to four.

"Now is the time to focus our energy on our first home game against Elmira this weekend," continued Talbi.  "The team needs the support of their classmates, friends and family this Saturday.  It's a bad start, but it's just the beginning.   I believe the players and team will bounce back soon… this is just a beginning."

Hilbert is excited to host their home-opener this weekend when they welcome Elmira College in a 3:15 pm kick.

Let's fill the Hawks Zone!
