BREA, OH – The Hilbert College women's volleyball ran into a pair of red-hot and undefeated opponents today on Day Two of the Marcia French Memorial Invitational.
The Hawks had trouble returning serves in the morning game and fell in three (25-9, 25-11, 25-7) to Baldwin Wallace (7-0). Mt. Union controlled the pace in their straight-set victory (25-3, 25-13, 25-8) as they improved to 8-0 on the season.
Sophomore
Torianna LeWand grabbed a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the 10-team tournament.
BALDWIN WALLACE
Ashley Repine finished with seven kills (0 errors/12 attempts) at the net and led the Hawks with seven digs.
Sara Trzepkowski dished four assists and
Sierra McLaughlin earned a pair of service aces.
Baldwin Wallace dominated the net collecting 29 kills and scoring 20 points behind the service line.
MOUNT UNION
Torianna LeWand posted five kills (0 errors/13 attmpets) along with five assists and five digs in the second game of the day. She shared team-high dig honors with
Jasmine Branch and
Ashley Repine.
Sierra Seader shared setting duties with LeWand and she added four assists, three kills, four digs and one service ace.
Mt. Union finished with 31 kills (.353) and 14 service aces to remain undefeated on the season.
The Hawks (0-7) hit the road next weekend as they head to the Oswego State Invitational. Hilbert will face the hosts in a 5pm contest and then battle Utica College at 7pm September 15.
