ERIE, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State Behrend softball team scored three unanswered runs over two innings to defeat No. 2 Penn State Altoona in the second round of the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Saturday.

Noteworthy: 

* The Lions are in the driver's seat for the title game tomorrow with a 2-0 record in the double-elimination tournament
* Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) was a home run away from hitting the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) came in for relief with the game tied at 3-all and pitched three shut-out innings for her eighth win
* In the bottom of the first, Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) hit a sacrifice fly to get Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) off third for a 1-0 lead
* Altoona responded with two hits and two runs in the second to take the lead
* Behrend tied it at 2-all in the bottom of the frame on a single down right-field line by Salvini to score Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois)
* Each team scored in the fourth to keep the game knotted
* Salvini tripled to right center to drive in Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) to make it 3-all
* The Lions took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth
* Two walks and two outs showing, Bundy doubled to bring in pinch runner Britney Shaw (St. Marys, PA/S. Marys) and Amy Nolte (Imperial, PA/West Allegheny)  
* Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) pitched the first four innings for Behrend
